"This is a bizarre book that really gives you a slice of life from someone actively traveling around and participating in the 60's hippie culture. To be able to drop a ton of acid yet still write a cohesive book that speaks to the politics and chaos of the times is impressive. Usually books like these are written "about" people, and not "by" people."

"Although From Yale to Jail was an interesting read, I wouldn't say that it is the best 1960s historical book out there. Yes, there are snippets that talk about events that happen in 1960, but it doesn't cover everything that happens. This book focuses more on Dave Dellinger's political involvement."

"Interesting and sad story about Edie, who went from a pop culture star to the pithole of sex, drugs & rock n roll, so to speak. It's quite a look at that era and may give you a different perspective that all was not as glamorous as it seemed."

"This classic novel takes you inside the world, and inside the minds, of astronauts. Yes, this was also a movie, but you should read the book too. Of course the technology is different from the way things were when the book was written, but that shouldn't put you off. It's an exciting story."

"I will say overall this isn't the BEST 1960 historical book. It doesn't cover history per say, but rather covers a story about a character. It is a biography and I wouldn't put last girl standing in the category of history books. "

The novel it tells about how photography in pictures in magazines filled the world with the information of the day. People saw everything from front line war to the Beatles in those coveted magazines. "A rare find, The Jew of Rome is very much a book of its time. I've found that it gives the reader a solid grounding of how the people of the 1960s viewed history in relation to themselves. Definitely a book to keep an eye out for."
