Did you know that all female leads in all “A Star is Born” productions had name similarities except for the 2018 remake? Apparently, all but Lady Gaga’s Ally shared some common denominator. Actress Janet Gaynor from the 1937 original A Star Is Born film was Esther Victoria Blodgett with the stage name Vicki Lester. On the 1954 remake, Judy Garland was also named Vickie Lester while Barbra Streisand was named Esther Hoffman in the 1976 remake. A Star Is Born 2018 is Lady Gaga's first project as she transitions from pop music to motion picture. Her acting debut still included a lot of singing but her acting skills surprised lots of fans and even show business friends. Another thing that shocked the viewers is seeing Gaga bare-faced.

She takes the role of Ally, an aspiring singer that at first had lots of insecurities. Her career takes a drastic turn when she met Jackson Maine. Jackson is an established country music singer with his own addiction problems. There was a scene in the film where Ally is backstage with full drag makeup. Jack meets Ally and asked her to take all her makeup off then told her she still looks beautiful. A similar scenario took place in real life on Lady Gaga's screen test for the role. Her co-star and director Bradley Cooper asked that she performs without makeup. The movie had lots of heart-warming scenes which explains why the movie received lots of positive reviews as well as nominations and awards.
