    #1M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

    M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

"M83 transports me back to the eighties when I was kid watching a teen movie with Molly Ringwall or an early Nightmare on Elm St. break from killing scene, or running scene. However, this album is for a time such as now, the instrumentals have revived and refreshed the 80's sound in this album. The intro to M83 is like a book, from the very first paragraph you know whether the book is a put down or continue to read to the end. This album is indeed a listen to the end, and play over and over. If you want a quick escape, or vacation just pack these hits into a device that will allow you to hear the transporting beats, and dream."

    #2Fleetwod Mac - Rumours

    Fleetwod Mac - Rumours

The number of hits and classic songs that there all in this album is so high that is almost a record to sing-along with in its own entirety. This album, the second with the lineup that was established in 1975  with the album Fleetwood Mac, was the biggest success of the band, that expanded its sound from blues rock to a music full of vocal harmonies between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

"Rumours, the album by Fleetwood Mac, is one of my all-time favourite road trip albums, and one of the best albums ever, period. I took a trip with my boyfriend to New York City, and we listened to this album over and over on the way there and back. There is something so nice about listening to this album as you cruise along over the hills, and watch the clouds roll by. It's so fun to sing along to, and it's casual and wistful, and a great listen. My favourite song on the album is definitely Never Going Back Again, such a soft, sweet tune, with Second Hand News coming in at a close second."

    #3My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

    My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

Can anyone create beauty with noise? Yes, this album is the proof. During its entire career, the band formed by Kevin Shields had the purpose to evolve from the classic pop sound to create thousand of layers of noise from where melodies and beauty emerged. With Loveless, they finally achieved what they wanted launching one of the best records of the 90's. Listen to songs like Only Shallow, Loomer, Touched or When You Sleep, to name some of the tracks and start floating into a new dimension.

"Somehow this album got great ratings on Amazon. I guess there is a dedicated following with very different musical tastes than me. But that's the music biz I guess. It's certainly not one of MY "best Albums to listen to on a road trip," but it might be one of yours. Who knows? Check it out and see."

    #4The Band - The Band

    The Band - The Band

When one thinks of music for a road trip, one of the first bands that come to his mind is the quintessence of American rock The Band and its second and self-titled album. Songs like Up on Cripple Creek, Across the Great Divide, Whispering Pines are perfect as a soundtrack to drive across any country but especially for a ride across the USA.

"The Band (with likely one of the most confusing band names of all time) has so many hits that are perfect to belt in the car. I have a strong love for a couple of songs, although that "old-timeyness" might not work for younger generations. I can see myself popping this in maybe once on a long road trip, but if you're a young adult, I bet you will have other music you prefer on road trips."

The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

Exile on Main Street is one of the best albums of one the best bands ever, The Rolling Stones. This record reflects a period of time when Keith Richards was at his peak of compositive talents. Recorded in his basement in France, its jammy and bluesy spirits and its freewheeling nature make this record a perfect choice to listen to while on a road trip.

#6Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

One of the best albums by the British pianist and singer, reaching 30 million of copies sold. This album launched in 1973 and with Bernie Taupin's lyrics, the main composer of this era for Elton John is a musical tour de force. Grandiloquent, emotional, minimal sometimes, this double album showed all the talents of Elton John, from piano ballad to rock and roll gems. An album to immerse during a road trip.

"This is a beautiful album. Truly a joy to listen to anywhere, but on a road trip, it makes the whole thing feel very surreal, like you're in a movie. If you like dreamy, relaxing, ethereal music, this is the album for you. Cocteau Twins made a beautiful album here."

    #13Survivor - Vital Signs

    Survivor - Vital Signs

Survivor was one of the best bands in what was known as AOR or (Adult Oriented Rock). Their participation in Rocky III soundtrack made them internationally famous with the hit single Eye of The Tiger. After this, they tried to follow the success with Caught in the Game, but it was a selling failure. With a new singer, Jimi Jamison they launched their best record Vital Signs, with omnipresent keyboards and remembered tunes like I Can't Hold Back or the Search is Over.

"While I'm personally not a huge Survivor fan, I think this solution is very appropriate. The description even does a good job of selling the high points of the band. The album is rated fairly high on the Amazon page but there's only 44 reviews, which means the album itself isn't all that popular. Based on that, I'm not sure if I am completely convinced that this album would be considered the "best.""

American Beauty was the follow up for their Workingman's Dead album where they continue exploring the folk, bluegrass and country elements of their music developing their songcraft to their highest point.

    #15Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow

    Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow
The second album from the Philadelphia's shoegaze band Nothing is shoegaze at its top. Noise, ethereal atmospheres, guitar riffs that can sound loud as hell but soft as snow too and lyrics that reflect twisted relationships, stoned trips and teenage and adult angst make this record a modern classic to get lost.

"I had planned to travel from Missouri to New Mexico for several months in advance but did not remember to pick out my travel music beforehand. I was stuck with the CD stuck in my cars player left by my sister. The album was Tired of Tomorrow by Nothing. I listened to the tracks oh about 10 times each, and in that time, the band really grew on me. Will be listening to more of their music in the future."

"This music has been done, ad nauseum, in the early 90s, especially in the Seattle area when grunge was becoming the thing. Still, I stupidly gave it a chance. This almost caused me to crash my car out of sheer boredom during my road trip. "
