"I don't get too excited when I read unless I've heard really good things about it. The Golden Compass got me really excited from everything I heard about it. It's about a girl who tries to find her missing friend. It's really good and you won't want to put it down. "

"I read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" when I was a child. I actually kind of grew up with the series, but I would not rank this book among the most exciting novels ever written. I grant that it is a great childrens book with an abundance of memorable characters, but it is by no means an adrenaline pumping thrill ride. In my view this book would be more adequately characterized as a charmingly idiosyncratic romp with wands."

"One of the greatest book series ever created. Tokien is a master of his craft and this book is no exception. Fans of the films who have never read the novels need to read this to truly understand just how important this series is. You only begin to understand Tolkien's deeper meanings when you read this book and series. I read these once a year. If you have never read fantasy before, this is a great way to get your feet wet in the genre."

"The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish Cycle) is the most exciting novel and a real thought experiment about gender issues I've read in a long time. I can see how this book would appeal and even offer redemption to people who are secretly unsure about their own gendered reality, and offer compassion and insight into gender roles for gender normative people. Fantastic story, great read."

The twists and turns throughout leave you unable to put the book down. As far as the Robert Langdon series go, I thought the first book, Angels and Demons, was much better and the pace of the writing left me on the edge of my seat."

"Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is the second book in the very popular Hunger Games series. I love the movies made from the books, but the books themselves are great and a must read even if you're a fan of the movie series. The characters and setting are richly developed and the plot is deep and enthralling. Any age from teen up will love this exciting novel."
