      DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Joysticks were first used as controls for aircraft and elevators? We know joysticks as tools used for controlling video games, which have one or more push-buttons whose state can be read by the computer. However, the earliest known joystick was used on an aircraft by Louis Bleriot in 1908. He used it in his Bleriot VIII aircraft. The name "joystick" is said to have originated with an early 20th century French pilot, Robert Esnault-Pelterie. The joystick as we know today was first created in 1972. It was created for the Magnavox Odyssey console by Ralph H. Baer. He is also credited as the inventor of television video games.

The video game joysticks were used to control the horizontal and vertical position of a spot displayed on a screen. The earliest known electronic game joystick with a fire button was released by Sega as part of the 1969 arcade game, Missile. Technological evolution has enhanced the looks and functionality of the "joystick". The modern variations are now known as "controllers" which are still widely for gaming. These controllers have also evolved to be used in mobile devices for gamepad supported games, because of the demand from the younger generation. For iPhone users, they can play the best iOS games with controller support. This would enable gamers to play their favorite games and enjoy them, even without being connected to a gaming console.
