What are the best anime like The Devil is a Part Timer?

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (also known as Hataraku Mao-sama!) is a light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by Oniku. The series debuted back in February of 2011 on ASCII Media Works and has 24 volumes so far. The story revolves around the demon king named Sadao Maou who seeks to conquer the world of Ente Isla. He is confronted by the Hero Emilia and he is forced into a corner. In order to escape, he opens a gate that transports him to modern-day Tokyo, Japan. In order to get back to Ente Isla, he must first learn to survive in this new and strange land. What's a demon lord to do? Get a part-time job, of course. Satan, The Great Demon Lord... finds part-time employment at a fast-food restaurant called MgRonald. An anime adaptation of the manga was produced by White Fox and was directed by Naoto Hosoda. The anime series aired from April to June of 2013 and ran for 13 episodes.

Given that the premise of the series is quite... out of this world, you'd be forgiven to think that it would not be received well. In fact, the was quite well-received by fans and critics alike. It was quite a fresh take on the established Satan being the ultimate evil trope. This show revels in the mundane and the ordinary and does a great job of doing so. It's funny, well-written, and despite being such a short series, managed to pack a good punch. That said, being such a short series, some were expectedly left wanting more. To help you scratch that itch, check the list that we've made below. We named some of the best anime like The Devil is a Part-Timer that we think you will enjoy just as much.

"this is the opposite of devil is a part timer in the sense that instead of the fantasy being brought to the real world, the real world is brought to a fantasy world. things like politics and economy mixing with video game raids? HELL YEAH!"

"the art style threw me off at first since it seemed like a copy of one punch man but with hair (makes sense since they're by the same dude) but then they got to the special effects that BLEW MY MIND. BRAVO, STUDIO BONES!"

"this was a very interesting approach to an isekai fantasy comedy genre. the idea of a normally weak monster becoming the strongest being in existence but not being evil about it (sorta)? plus the fact rimuru is adorbs!"

"this was definitely an unexpected laugh trip. anything you thought was going to happen for an isekai anime just gets tossed out the window in favor of pants-wetting comedy. also, aqua is useless."
