DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the most used emoji on Twitter is the "face with tears of joy"? According to Emoji Tracker, people love to use this emoji to express their laughter. Emoji Tracker is a website that tracks all emojis being used on Twitter real time. Emojis are small digital images or icons which are used in text fields to express the writer's emotional attitude in electronic communication. These can also be used to communicate without using words to express the writer's feelings playfully.

Emojis have already existed in 1999, and the first emoji was created in Japan by Shigetaka Kurita. Kurita found his inspiration while watching weather forecasts that used symbols in showing the weather. He also got inspired by the manga which expresses emotions with the use of symbols. It was only in 2012 when emojis were fully embraced because of the release of iOS 6 that features an emoji keyboard. In 2013, the word "Emoji" was added to Oxford Dictionary. As of 2017, the record shows that there are already 2,623 official Unicode emojis, and over 60 million emojis are being sent each day through Facebook Messenger. Meanwhile, the first World Emoji Day was celebrated on July 17, 2014.
