DID YOU KNOW?

Netflix started out as an online DVD rental service in 1997. That's right! It's kinda far from what it has become now--a giant streaming service. Interestingly, it pioneered the monthly-based subscription service that we all signed up for today. It became successful that it took the world by storm and it paved the way for the online video streaming service industry to reach a greater feat. So much so that "Netflix and chill" was coined and became part of the pop culture. Today, the streaming platform has gone as far as producing its own shows. Just in case you might want to try it, we a curated list of the best Netflix Originals here. On the other hand, other streaming services such as Hulu and Amazon Prime Video are constantly putting up a good fight.

"The Showtime app is great if you have still pay for cable and have it as part of your package or if you are willing to pay the $10.99 a month for the exclusive Showtime content. While Showtime does have good content, I am not willing to dish out the extra $$ for it, preferring to cut ties with my cable bill and stick to Netflix/Hulu."

"Not only can you watch the newest movies and tv shows, it's free. It doesn't get any better than that, and their selection is great if not better than Netflix anyway. Plus it doesn't change month to month. And it's free. There aren't a lot of legal free streaming services like Netflix, and this is possibly the best one out there!"

"This is a great alternative to Netflix. There's quite a bit of selection here. Some movies cost money to rent, and others are free to watch. There are some TV episodes available too. The free ones do have some annoying ads though, but what can you expect with free, right?"

"This is close to what I was looking for. I wanted a streaming app like Netflix through which I could watch a variety of shows and movies. This is only for HBO, and while is is a streaming app, it only offers HBO stuff. I wanted something a little more varied."
