DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that one of the most famous April Fool's Day pranks involved black and white tube television sets and nylon stockings? During the 1st of April back in 1962, there was only one available television channel in Sweden, which was broadcasted in black and white. During one of their broadcasts, they called in Kjell Stensson, one of their "tech experts", who then demonstrated a simple process that will allow their viewers to watch their black and white programs in full color. After a couple of minutes of discussions involving some rather technical terms and jargon, he finally revealed that the best method to achieve this was to procure a pair of nylon stockings and hold them in place over the TV set's screen. To top it off, he added that viewers should be sitting at a certain distance from the TV and to adjust the "color spectrum" by moving their head back and forth. Despite this outlandish claim, thousands apparently fell for it.
Presently though, the age of black and white television shows has basically passed, giving way to color television tubes. Quite possibly one of the biggest advancements in television is the creation of smart TV, which is capable of connecting to the internet, making calls, and even running games and apps. Additionally, plenty of innovative methods have been developed in order to easily control a person's television, mainly with smart TV devices, laptop connections, and remote apps. That being said, it wouldn't come as a surprise if further developments are to be made, all of which would value convenience and accessibility.
