"Not really surprised that this app is number one in list of apps to improve your math skills. In general, it will focus on training your arithmetic skills and logical reasoning. Yes, this has a set of questions to test your abstract reasoning. I am recommending this to students and adults who are about to take important exams for job and whatnot. "

"This is more of a game rather than an educational app that teaches you theoretically. King of Math is something I'd play when I am bored on the bus or train. Gameplay is pretty fast-paced. Also, character design and music are compelling enough to make learning math easier and more fun."

"Math is never about memorization but rather analysis. I am not really sure why Eidetic is among the top choices for apps for improving math skills for adults. Perhaps, the aim of the user who suggested this was to sharpen memory rather than arithmetic skill. Fair enough."

DID YOU KNOW

Did you know that fear of math, in general, is called arithmophobia? Anything that has something do with numbers would fall under that category. On a serious note, this simple ‘fear of math’ can actually lead to math anxiety, experts say. Math anxiety is as a “feeling of tension, apprehension, or fear that interferes with math performance”, according to Ashcraft.

In a journal of the Psychology and Clinical Psychiatry on Med Crave, this kind of anxiety can be present in all ages. It could be from pre-school to graduate students and beyond, across borders in the world. However, in most cases, this is common among young students. Well, developing good math skills is an essential milestone towards self-development of kids. The process leads to a stable concentration level, listening skills, and reasoning skills. Yet Sian Beilock's study reveals math anxiety is often related to performance and the pressure on the kids to perform well. And this situation is more observed among Asian students. Perhaps, it has something to do with their cultural upbringing. Thus, the study implies that parents bear a great responsibility in instilling them either a negative or positive disposition towards the subject. Learning doesn't always have to be boring and one fun way of introducing mathematics to them is through some fun apps. Interestingly, these Math games do not just work for children but also for adults. Studies say those who engage in educational apps, regardless of age, are more likely to maintain a healthy mental activity. Yet, another responsibility lies in the hands of the educators. Findings suggest that teachers should take the time and effort to face this anxiety like any other phobia. One-on-one tutoring sessions do not just improve the cognitive skills of children, it also reduces their anxiety or discouragement towards math.

"I used to play a game on the DS that were like brain exercises which included a variety of math and word puzzles. I found the Math Master app to fill that void once I got rid of the DS. The variety of games and puzzles included in the app helps keep my brain sharp when I find myself not doing mind stimulating work. The old saying of "use it or lose it" definitely applies here as I was shocked to find out how I'd almost forgotten simple multiplication and division after so many years of not using it. I try to use the app daily to keep my mind sharp and it helps me in every day life by not struggling to figure out how much of a tip I should leave or how many apples I can get for 5 bucks at the grocery store."

"Personal Zen is a fairly simple app that provides basic games for stress relief. The games are almost too simple and seem to be a bit boring and pointless. When playing games, I'm not sure what the goal is or what I'm supposed to be working towards. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend Personal Zen for anyone who is looking for something fun, interesting, and time-consuming. Maybe it would be more suitable for kids."
