"This Japanese cookbook strikes a good balance between authenticity and accessibility - it often provides useful substitution tips for difficult to find ingredients, which can be helpful. There is a large section on sushi, which many people are undoubtedly looking for, but there are also a number of other underrated dishes that are well worth attempting as well. One notable shortcoming is that the book does lack pictures, but I would rather have a cookbook that leads you to a delicious finished products instead of one that has pictures that don't even resemble your final outcome because of shoddily written directions. This is a very good buy for those interested in Japanese cooking or in Asian recipes in general, despite the lack of visual aides."

"I have always liked Thai food, but I became a bit obsessed after actually visiting Thailand. It is so hard to find any authentic Thai restaurants and I really wanted some. I bought this book thinking it was a recipe book only, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it talks about the people and culture as well. If you don't know anything about Thai culture or want to learn more about their food and traditions, then get this book and you won't be disappointed."
