What are the best Batman animated movies?

Batman is one of the most iconic fictional characters to ever grace our comic books and big screens. Despite this, there are still a lot of things that people don't know or get right about the character. With that said, let us give a little intro to the world of the Dark Knight. Batman's alter ego is Bruce Wayne, your typical playboy billionaire at the surface. Beyond it though, lies a man dealing with a dark and traumatic past. This is what has influenced his entire life and the hidden persona that he carries. After the death of his parents to petty crime, he took up the mantle of vigilante justice. He has since waged war with the criminals of Gotham City and be its watchful protector. Where would a hero be without a nemesis, and that's where the Joker comes in, but that's a story for another day.

Batman does not any metahuman abilities. He makes up for this with his intellect, trained body, as well as his extensive combat training. He liked to work alone but one only so much by himself. He has created a sort of family for himself with people he has helped through the years. Even his own son has become part of the "family business". Outside of that, there's the Justice League, which operates on a more universal level. The Dark Knight's history has a lot of stories to tell. This leads us to why there are so many movies about him but for now, we'll focus on Batman animated movies. DC Comics makes some really great animated movies and Batman is in a lot of those. So without further ado, have a look at our list of the best Batman animated movies and start watching today.

DID YOU KNOW?

Adventure Comics is one of the longest-running comic series of all time? It's the evolution of New Comics and it ran for almost 50 years publishing 503 issues in total. Detective Comics would join these two series that made up National Allied Publications. It's a company founded by Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. The Detective Comics series would mark an important milestone for the publishing company. It is the series where Batman would first appear back in May 1939. Due to financial issues, Wheeler-Nicholson had to seek the help of a fellow enthusiast. That person was Harry Donenfield and ended up in a partnership between the two. It would also result in the founding of Detective Comics Inc. and the eventual acquisition of National Allied Publications.

The company would release its fourth series called Action Comics. It is where one of the most iconic superheroes ever would first appear, Superman. It was also the time that Detective Comics Inc. would become known as DC Comics. The following decades would see the introduction of other iconic superheroes. Superheroes that defined the DC Universe and would carry it forward. Heroes like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Captain Marvel, and the Green Lantern. By that point, DC Comics has built a nice roster of comic book superheroes. There's nothing quite like its first two superheroes though. Batman's story has seen various adaptations from graphic novels to big Hollywood movies. Batman animated movies have also seen a rise in popularity and quality. Then, there's the Man of Steel which is a different beast altogether. Despite their differences, they work well together to thwart the bad guys. You'll see these two working together on various comic book stories. They're not called "world's finest" for nothing after all.

"Ok, Batman is a franchise that has spun numerous animated and non-animated stories through the years, but if one were to go to the roots of the Batman franchise, the animated series, adapted from comics, gets one as close to the real thing as it gets. This story of Batman returning after retiring is filled with the usual Batman heroics and is very entertaining. Recommend if you are a fan, or even if you're not."

"I really like this movie. I thought it did a good job of mixing Batman and Spiderman together in an animated world. The story was able to keep me interesting to the end. Something I can't say about other animated movies in the past. I think this was written by the well-known Alan Burnett, just in case that might matter to anyone (as it should). I recommend this movie to any fan of this genre."

"The best Batman animated movie is Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. The story centers around his confrontation with a mysterious killer, who holds the key to Batman's secret past. It is one of the best yet also most under-appreciated films in the franchise. It's dark, serious, and stylish with a tight story."

"Making a series introducing a new, younger Batman, set in the future was a big gamble that paid off and is as much a cult classic as the original series. This movie is just as great seeing the return of the joker. Along with old Bruce Wayne and Terry McGuiness, makes for a fun, action-packed movie."

"To me, this was a better and more dynamic adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns comics than part 1 which served as more of a warm-up rather than getting deep into the story. Regardless, both were great and deserves a watch from any fan."
