"I have been an avid reader all my life. I was in high school when this series first book hit the shelves. My mom brought the Chamber of Secrets home originally for my younger siblings to read. My teenager brain scoffed at the silly "magic" book thinking it was way too mature for this silly children's book. I read the first page, then the second, and by the end of that first book it was no longer such a silly children's story any longer. Each consecutive book is better than its predecessor. This truly is a bestseller for any age."

"A Tale of Two Cities is a classic and for a very good reason. I honestly didn't think I would be able to get into such a conventional, old fashioned novel, but Dickens surprised me with the depth of his writing and overall ability as a story teller. Two thumbs up and a bag of chips on the side. "

"One of man books I had to read in high school, but one of the few that I still remember. Sometimes classics are classics because the story is good and it's well written - not just because the teacher tells you it's a classic! This is one of those, a good story that will stick with you."

"This story is two parallel plot lines set about twenty years apart. It's a mystery/ghost story and you figure out tiny clues along the way. I feel like it's also a story about self-discovery, especially for Cora. I went into this story knowing nothing about it. I read the synopsis and dove in. And then I swam through those pages. The beginning is a little rough, but it was smooth seas after that. I felt like I was hit in the face with more imagery, extended metaphors, and word play in the first five chapters than I usually read in one book combined. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it proved difficult to focus on the story while my brain processed the hidden meanings behind certain phrases. I've never read any other stories by Samantha Hunt, but I think I like her writing style. It's very divergent and refreshing. As I got halfway through the story, I realized it reminded me of the Fox sisters channeling ghosts. Of course I cracked up when they were explicitly mentioned near the end of the story (no spoilers). I realized that was the author's intent. Overall, if you're looking for something unique and very entertaining to read, give this one a try."
