      DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the best-selling Blu-ray title of all time is Disney's very own Frozen? Despite the popularity behind media streaming, watching films in Blu-ray is still considered to be quite popular, as evidenced by the fact that at least 7.62 million pieces of Frozen discs have been sold on Blu-ray format alone. Additionally, Bohemian Rhapsody has sold roughly 1.6 million units total since the film's release in November 2018. Its first prototypes were brought into light by Sony in a CEATEC exhibition way back in 2000, before filing for a trademark for the "Blue Disc" logo four months later. Despite these quick developments, the physical specifications for the Blu-ray Disc weren't completed until 3 years later in, while BD-ROM features were finalized during the start of 2006.

Pretty soon, personal computers and laptops were equipped with Blu-ray drives as well, and came with it are Blu-ray player software. Although it was quite a hit during its early years, Blu-ray soon fell in favor of media streaming, despite still having a large number of enthusiasts. Although they remain loyal to Blu-ray, their reasons for staying differ, with some preferring it due to better video and sound quality, as well as it being free from the need to be constantly connected to the internet. Some individuals though, prefer the novelty of possessing physical copies of their favorite flicks, as well as the other freebies and items that come with its packaging. Whatever the case, it goes to show that in spite if its fading fame, movies in Blu-ray format are still alive and kicking.
