"The Serekh Texts describe the pious documents of the Essenes who lived at Qumran next to the Dead Sea. The twelve manuscripts there are discussed in full, with plentiful research on the scrolls in terms of literary function, history, and its significance on Judaism and Jewish culture at the time. To learn more about the Dead Sea Scrolls, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the people that were dedicated to the obedience of the Torah in those times. This is a great companion book for those that want to learn about the Dead Sea Scrolls."

"First and foremost, this book is not for everyone as it's very religious-based. Secondly, you may not understand much of it unless you're well-versed in the scriptures and gospel as much of the book is written in an advanced format. While the book too often becomes political and mixes the author's belief with purpose, it's still an interesting read thanks to the source material."

"This book was such a great read! It ties in the different religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) and shows how they correspond with one another. I received this book as a graduation gift from my uncle who is a history buff and since reading the first couple of pages, I have already recommended this book to a number of my friends."

"This book (Dead Sea Scrolls) by Lawrence H. Schiffman will make a good read since it focuses on how the texts shed light on the history of Judaism and early Christianity. It is not so much about who has control of the scrolls or who does not. I've had a chance to read some of these scrolls online, and watched some documentaries in the past. To have a book addressing this scrolls,is not bad idea at all. "
