"I have never really known what a narcissistic person was until a friend suggested that I read The House of Women by Catherine Cookson. I did not really think this book would be that good of a read but ended up pleasantly surprised. I learned a lot about narcissistic mothers from this novel."

"This book is a great way to help yourself and your negative feelings brought to you by your mother if she is one who tends to be a narcissist. Sometimes, it may seem that there is nothing you can do to thrust yourself into your mother's positive light, but this book does a great job providing you with reassurances."

"Like Water for Chocolate is one of the best books about narcissistic mothers. This book is a good read for those who want a simple story and accept things the way they are without explanation. If you can accept a fairytale without questioning anything, then this would be a perfect book for you. I prefer stories and characters that are more complex and not too "novela-like". Overall it was a very easy book to read with conflicts that just resolve themselves eventually...not the type of story I could buy into."

I ended up finding a book that fell in the historical fiction class called American Rose I was looking to learn a bit more about the topic but this was a more fiction based story and I did not learn that much from it."

"I'm not sure this or the description on Amazon really gives me enough information to know what kind of abusive the mother is, but considering how people misnomer things as NPD it very well could be that they're looking for "abusive" instead of "narcissistic." "
