"Every American should read this book. It's just that important. It really creates an important entry into life in Palestine. So much of our political foreign policy is written about this part of the world. Corasanti gives us a way to approach it, through fiction. That doesn't mean it's heavy on the politics. It's heavy on the story, the narrative. But it gives you characters and real lives and a way to understand the ethos of the people who live there."

"I'm a bit on the fence about this one. On the one hand, from my own research it appears some of the "facts" stated in this book can be refuted. On the other hand, there are historical documents that corroborate some of what's written by the author. Given the inconsistencies and half-truths though, I can't recommend this book, even if you learn from what bits of truth there are."

"I have a Palestinian friend who likes to speak about the suffering of her home country. She feels like hardly anyone in the west pays attention to the suffering in Gaza. That's why this book is so important. With 15 different perspectives, it's easy to see the human side of the conflict. Anyone with an interest in the middle east needs to read this book."

"With the issue of Israel and Palestine, I wanted to get an understanding of both states. I think this did the job for the Palestine side. The book was very comprehensible and was a really easy read. I would like to read more of the author's books they did such a great job here, the best book on Palestine I have ever read."
