"This book is a very good read for couples and people that are dating in general. The book gives a lot of practical usage on how to keep your relationship going and advise on keeping the spark alive. I thought it was a very good book and I've actually used some of the tips and knowledge for my own relationships. ""Next Time Lucky" is one of the many, many books that my sister swears that I must read before I die. I've taken her suggestions a few times, and I think I would prefer to die without having read them. They are almost invariably lust-filled, poorly written romance novels with some shirtless dude on the cover holding a woman with a torn dress in the rain on the deck of a pirate ship. Give me a break! However, I have to hand it to my sister. This time, her suggestion was pretty good. Sure, it's about a woman looking for love, but it's not over the top, not too cheesy, and actually pretty well written. It's non-fiction, which is kind of rare for a book on this subject, and that;s one of the things that really sets it apart. It also gives an interesting and seldom seen look at the matchmaking profession, which I knew next to nothing about. If you want a "romance" book that doesn't feel like a "romance" book, give "Next Time Lucky" a try. It;s not going to when the Pulitzer Prize, but it makes for a great Summer beach read."

"There's a reason the first words of the title are "The Dalai Lama's..." - that being that this book is vapid. If it weren't written by a famous person, nobody would read this. This book has a lot of vague platitudes, questionable philosophy, and fluffy proclamations about love. I didn't really get anything out of it, and you won't either."

"I received this book as a wedding present. As I started reading I was like "WOW"! It is such an "oh that's why he acts that way" kind of book. I am sure my husband thought the same after he read it. I love the scenarios that are displayed and they do happen in all relationships. It displays a better understanding of how men and woman's minds work. A great book for understanding how to communicate with you significant other. "
