"Someone at work who knows I read sci-fi asked me what's the best novel I had read about space exploration and colonizing other worlds, and I didn't even have to think about it -- Dune, of course! If you haven't read this by now, why not? It is an established classic and has a cult following for a reason. It's just so darn good!"

"Okay so this is sort of strange I know but I cannot read this book. I don't know if it's the vertigo or what but anything about space makes me dizzy. If I had to read something about space this would be the one but I wouldn't choose this normally. This is a great book gift for someone who loved Gravity."

"This is book 2 of 5 in a series, so it's obviously got staying power. It has picked up a couple of impressive late 1980s awards for best novel, so it clearly stands out as more than "just" science fiction. I found this book much warmer than the first in the series, and I was thankful for that."

"The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury is one of my favorite classic science fiction books of all time. It is set in 1999 when the people of Earth send spaceships to Mars for the purpose of space exploration and colonization. It is a vivid and beautifully written book that provides a glimpse into a futuristic world that still captures our imagination today."

"was quite frankly bored to tears by this book. I read at least a third of the book and I gave up after that due to boredom. The characters were not interesting and the author somehow made space exploration boring. There were no interesting sequences or interactions between the story which made it hard for me to care. I regret wasting time on it."

"Have you ever had a dream where you imagined you were a bird, or some kind of other flying creature? That's what this novel reminded me of, and in the best way possible. It's basically about a guy who somehow finds his mind / spirit transplanted into the body of a space manta ray after an accident, and his discoveries, exploration, and adventures while flying around Jupiter. It's a very surreal and dream-like experience, one which easily captures the imagination. Whether you're a lover of science-fiction or a lover of fantasy, this one comes with a high degree of recommendation."
