"Books never really explore what happens to the family when someone commits suicide so i love this option. The fact that it is a modern classic turned into a movie is even better."

"When looking for books to help understand this difficult subject, suicide, this is one you should definitely read. It helps those of us who have lost loved ones who chose suicide understand more about how a person arrives at this choice. It dispels some of the common myths surrounding suicide that usually only lead to excessive guilt for the survivors. It also helps you see warning signs so, perhaps, you won't have to live through this again. Really, read this book if you're looking for accurate and thoughtful information about suicide. "

"Coming from a place where my significant other has dealt with many of these issues, I think its healthy to have someone, or even something, to relate to. This book covers most of the struggles women go through and bring awareness to it. I highly recommend this book."

"I was looking for a nonfiction book about suicide when I came upon this title. However, I was disappointed to find that, upon reading, it is in fact a cynical memoir in which the author ascertains that humans are constantly committing "safe suicides" such as going bungee jumping, to find meaning in life. I found it to be irrelevant to the topic I was looking for. "

"Out of all the books on suicide, I find Thirteen Reasons Why to be the worst example. I first encountered this book a year ago and after reading it I felt sick to the core. Although the book is meant to be a way to increase dialogue on suicide, it ended up being a book stuck on romanticizing mental illness and glorifying a revenge plot. This is not a healthy book for anyone to read."

"I recently had a close friend open up to me about his suicidal thoughts and I wanted to find him a book on the subject to give him more perspective about how it effects others left behind. This book did the trick. My friend felt the struggles on the main character and is seeking treatment to avoid hurting those around him. I cannot say how much I love and appreciate this book for how much it helped my friend."
