"This is a story of America's huge rural drug war and one of the most engaging books I have ever read. It has a huge cast of characters and without the index, it's sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Blakeslee really knows how to bring them all to life and did a fantastic job in writing this book. I really enjoyed this read and would recommend it to anyone who likes True Crime stories."

"I can not tell off first glance whether this case occurred in Texas. Texas has a long history with plenty of options but if this one happened in Texas, it seems like it fits."

"I love crime dramas and Are You There Alone?: The Unspeakable Crime of Andrea Yates is definitely the best book about Texas' true crime cases. It's an amazing real life crime drama that is compelling an infinitely frightening. It reads like a page turning mystery novel and is even more chilling for being a real story. "

"This was a little too dark for my taste. Real life horrors are all around us, so digging deep into one particular story doesn't make for enjoyable reading. But one begins to understand the very bad choices made by everyone, so there is something to be said for learning a bit about the human condition. "

"This book was a little too frightening for me. While I appreciate the authors eye for detail, many of the acts and descriptions ended up too gory in my opinion. Still, the story is interesting and well-researched."
