"This book was published not long after the fall of the Soviet Union, with the promise of revealing previously unkown information about the Romanov family and the final days before their bloody execution. It wasn't a bad read, with an interesting glimpse into the history at the time, but the details should be taken with a grain of salt."

"This book is a little boring for me, but great for someone who really enjoys history. It makes learning about the history more interesting, as opposed to reading about it in a history book. It is about the right length, not too long or too short. "

"This book is quite light on history and character development. Given the voluminous amount of written and other materials from the Tsar Nicholas III having a book theorize a second daughter was not executed and following that theme resulted in many negative reviews. "

"Pretty good mystery thriller from the mind of Robert Masello. I like Russian history, especially around the time of the Russian Revolution. Of course not everything is going to line up with history - in fact, you can think of this book as "alternate history." I liked that Masello tried to keep consistent with his facts though. I think this book is worth it if you like this period of Russian history."
