"This is an interesting and somewhat terrifying take on how climate change, population patterns and current events can combine to lead to a modern societal collapse. Identifying some of the current problems in the "civilized world," the author weaves an entirely plausible worst case scenario if ecological disaster is not prevented. "

"I'm always looking for a great post-apocolyptic thriller and this fits the bill. I really like it because it brings in religion, science, intellectuallism and the basics of human nature and ties them all together in a future that doesn't seem all that impossible. Miller definitely seemed to have an idea about how mankind would progress even from over 50 years ago."

"I wanted a good post-apocalyptic book to read over the weekend and am a little tired of the zombie genre for the moment. This was a fantastic change. It is full of twists and turns and the best part of the book is how the character is the last man on earth but he is far from being alone in the world. It was a great change of pace and nothing like the movie. I highly suggest reading the book as it was very enthralling."

"I read The Collapse of Complex Societies in college for a history course. I don't think there is any doubt that the book is considered one of the best concerning how civilizations collapse or fall. It's not light reading, though, and not written for a general audience. Give yourself some time with it and keep plenty of coffee on hand."

"This book was ok, I am not usually a fan of world coming to an end books, but my book club chose it. It was well written and graphic, I felt like I was there. I found flaws and it made me disengage some, like ok...the oil is gone, but we have other means of energy, so why would everything crumble?"
