"This book has everything you could ever need if you're trying to learn to carve wood. This book has so much detail about carving different patterns, or methods for cutting, as well as what tools to use for what jobs, and even has a section for painting them. However this might be a bit too specific for the topic at hand, so not a perfect fit."

"I'll admit, I'm not the best with techniques that require my hands to be precise. However, when my doctor suggested wood carving for relaxation, I discovered that I did actually end up enjoying it. I wasn't perfect, but I wanted to do more than make basic animal shapes. I picked up this book, which gives great illustrated guides on how to carve, and I'm still not a pro, but if I put my first squirrel and the one I did last night side-by-side, there is definitely a noticeable improvement!"

"This is a good book if you have some experience, but the style of the animals presented didn't really appeal to me. You need to have some knowledge already and understand the tools. For general wood carving tuition, not so much. If you are looking for this particular kind of style, and already know a bit, you'll like this book."

"This book is not that good of a read in my opinion and the title of the book is not attractive. The concept of the book is kind of appealing to those who are into wood carving but the title should have reflected it. All in all the book could have been better but not bad if you are trying to pick up a hobby. "
