"I don't know about this one. Maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand it. Most of the themes and theories went right over my head. I had to re-read passages a few times and even then I didn't get it. This is the kind of book a dumb person should avoid. "

"When first visiting a home, one can quickly evaluate its dwellers. The level of cleanliness speaks to a person's organizational habits, whereas the color scheme of a home points to a person's overall mood. One of the most revealing characteristics, however, is the reading material left out on the coffee table. A literary work so notorious as "Lincoln" clearly signals the intellect and sophistication of its owner. It signals the desire of oneself to further his or her education, which is considered to be the best way for a person to better themselves."

"I have never understood the whole put a book on a coffee table thing, but maybe because I have a dog and he'd chew it to pieces (seriously, he would). That said, Water Isaacson is an important, in-depth, talented writer who demystifies the science and the life of one of the most interesting figures of the 20th Century. Read this. Even if you're not that into science, you'll come away with a new appreciation for what Einstein and his colleagues accomplished. And if you want to keep it on your coffee table, well, go ahead. "

"I am looking for a coffee table book for a wedding gift. I want something with lots of pictures that would fit this traditional definition. The Andrew Jackson book looks like an interesting book, but it is a biography with some pages of pictures. I am looking for a book where the pictures are the stars and less text/plot. So, this would not work for me."

"Plato is a favorite in Philosophy classes but I don't think this work would work as a coffee table book... Obviously the ideas within are an important part of the thought-provoking Greek contribution to the world and should be read by everyone once they're mentally mature enough to discuss the ideas, but it's not something to read lightly with guests while sipping coffee."

"While I enjoy this book very much, I wouldn't recommend it as something to put on a coffee table considering it takes many hours to read and many more hours to understand. I don't generally think of dense philosophical texts when I think coffee table book."

"I would not fit this book into the "best books atop a coffee table" category. When I think of this category I think of more light reading, something you only need to read a few pages out of at a time to be satisfied. Maybe a series of short stories would better fit this topic. The book presented seems more oriented towards a metaphysical/ spiritual topic."
