"She decides to run away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York because she thinks life will be more interesting there than in her dull home. Jaimie is flattered that he is chosen brother and goes along with Claudia's plan quite happily. When they get to the museum they explore the galleries with all the other visitors during the day and sleep in an ornate sixteenth century bed. Then, a new statue of a mysterious angel arrives at the museum. The children are fascinated by it and decide to investigate it which leads to their madcap adventure. I enjoyed this story because it had a really interesting plot. Also the characters of the brother and sister were fascinating. They seemed quite true to life in the way that they sometimes argued but also got along well with each other. I really loved the setting because I thought the museums were wonderful and the idea of living in one and exploring it would be my idea of heaven! The story is told in a very light-hearted way; it is easy to understand what is going on but you pick up some interesting facts along the way. I think it would appeal to anyone from age 7 or 8 upwards."

"This is a cute book for sure, but it was also hard to understand the little girl at times. She seemed amazed at some things in New York City, which is normal, but there were things that she should have been fully aware of but still showed surprise. It just made a nice read a little harder to read. The illustrations are amazing!"

"E.L. Konigsburg is well known for her 1968 novel, "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" (which won the Newbery Medal) but this 1998 novel is not one of her better books. It seems as if she was going through the motions with writing a children's book - but the story lacks any emotional connection with the main characters. I would definitely NOT recommend this as a "best books" nor would I start with this book if I wanted to read E.L. Konigsburg. This book is probably best left to only those who are completists and want to read everything from this author."

"George is a tranny book for children. It is absolutely horrible to indoctrine children with these false ideas. Stop targeting children with these sick books."

"This was on a summer reading list that my daughter 'forgot' about for most of the summer. When she finally got around to reading this, she was just rapt. I could hardly get her out of her room for dinner until she finished the last chapter. I've always been a bit of a fan of Konigsburg, so I was pretty happy to find something that she loved. "
