"I picked up the English version of Twenty Love Poems and Song of Despair back in July and have actually gone through the read on this twice. It's a set of poems by Chilean poet Pablo Neruba. I enjoyed the poems and it was thought provoking for me. I tend to go to the beach and settle in, lay back, and just open this book while I'm getting my tan on. There's nothing more relaxing. I consider this book the perfect quiet time book. It's really endearing and beautiful, the poetry that is, and if you take your time and soak in the read you will get a lot out of it."

"Wonderful collection of Borges' poems. I'm not a native speaker of Spanish so this book allows me to enjoy Borges' poems at a level I normally wouldn't. Each poem is accompanied by the English translation. I liked it. Highly recommend to anyone who struggles with the language but wants to enjoy Borges' work."

"As a Spanish major this book of Pablo Neruda's poems in English was life saving. I was having trouble understanding all of his poems and the translations really helped me finish my papers. I have come to love Pablo Neruda. I have read several Latin American poets and by far Pablo Neruda's The Captain's Verses is my favorite Latin American poet. "

"Venisia Gonzalez may not be one of the best known Latin American poets, but her work stands up with the best of them. Neruda's influence is obvious here but not pervasive enough to overshadow the work."

"The Heights of Macchu Picchu is a great piece of writing, but a lot of its meaning is lost in the translation from the original Spanish. If someone speaks Spanish fluently, I think it will have more of an emotional impact on him than someone trying to understand the work in English."
