"I don't think this falls into a Christian category, since it deals with orphans roaming the countryside. Additionally, this book was written in 1942, so there may also be some verbiage that does not translate to today's sensibility. I think there are better options out there for young Christian children."

"I loved this book as a kid and keep referring to people as "Ping" when they are the last one and hurrying to catch up. I wish more people had read this book, too, as a kid so they would know what the heck I was talking about! Lol! Oh, well, it's a lovely storey. I wish I had gotten it in the hard cover, oops on my side."

If your reader loves horses, than I would say this book is absolutely for them. It's also the first in the series, so your reader can enjoy the characters for many books. "I completely agree with this solution! The Emperor's New Clothes is a fantastic book for 2nd grade Christians. It really teaches kids that clothing and material goods are not what makes a person, it is their attitude and character. This book teaches that while still being funny. I teach 2nd graders and read this story to them and they absolutely loved it. I would say that this is a good book for any 2nd grader, not just Christians."

"The Story of Ferdinand is a classic book which teaches lessons every child needs to learn. Ferdinand is a young bull who is expected to do something (bullfights) but he just doesn't have the heart for it. Ferdinand is a peaceful young bull and doesn't want to be violent. The book captures the essence of choosing between what is expected of you although it may be wrong, and stepping up and doing the right thing. For this reason, The Story of Ferdinand would be an excellent childrens book for second grade Christians. "
