"I think this book would be too much for 8th graders. Its more an action movie and does not go into the history as much. The students will not learn a lot about history. Other books would be better for that"

"Ella Enchanted is itself an excellent book - and my daughters and I loved it so much that they choose it as their listening for our long summer vacation drive. We've now listened to the tapes twice through! The reading is lively and spirited, the young reader's voice could indeed be Ella - which is important as the story is in first person. I'm so glad they had a young performer read this! It was fun to hear her interpretations of the different languages of the various races and countries in the story, also. You can't go wrong with this purchase."

"This is a great book for younger readers--like little kids. My eighth grader was bored three pages in. If you think about it, the book is targeted at grades 6-9. Well, 9th grade is high school! There's a lot of maturity difference in those years. My eighth grader is reading adult books, and this book he said was childish and dull. He found the entire series to be like a "kid's cartoon" and just couldn't get into it. It's rich in fantasy and has a well-developed universe, but is just really better for younger kids, maybe late elementary school or very early middle school. "
