"Not all that impressive! Some of the games and ideas are good, but honestly they are pretty standard for ESL and EFL teaching. This book is also from 2003, and we've come a long way in 15 years for teaching this, so some of the ideas are really outdated. Do yourself a favor and look for a newer book! I wouldn't use this in my classroom."

"As an ESL teacher, I rely pretty heavily on this book to teach my intermediate students. The book is not suitable for introductory ESL students; if your student has 2-4 years of English language learning already, however, this is a good textbook. "

"This is a pretty good linguistics book, and I felt like it delivered what was promised. The chapters can be a bit dry but then again what do you expect when reading a linguistics book? I have compared it to other similar books and I feel like the theory presented in this one and the organization is better than others I have seen, so for that I would recommend it as well as for being well organized. ""Tips for Teaching Pronunciation" is a fantastic book for teachers imparting their wisdom of learning the English language to others who may be foreign or grasping it as a secondary language. The book provides a lot of useful activities that are practical and effective. It does a great job of explaining and demonstrating different approaches to help learn syllables, intonation, and far more. There are step-by-step worksheets you can incorporate into your teaching methods. The best part is an audio CD that allows for plenty of practice!"
