"Thought this was a great book. Very well written and honest account from the victim's view of abuse. Very realistic and gives the reader some idea of the effect of abuse on the victim. I love that it gives hope to people who don't understand what happened to them and also gives the abuser , if they care , some idea the harm their behavior causes."

"This pushes the tired trope that a woman needs a man to make her whole again. It doesn't matter if she was brutally raped, the only thing that can put her back together is a male savior. I read through this when my son finished it and was sobbing. I'm concerned about him. He's been wearing nail polish lately, and I think lipstick, though he always wipes it off by the time he comes home. I'm not sure what I should make of him liking this book, but I've asked his mother to talk to him about it, since I don't know what the heck is going on in his head."

"This book can be a bit of a tough read but I guess that's what you would want if you were looking to read about the topic of real rape stories. It is a very important book and any women who have struggled with this and might be a bit lost on what to do or any women that are worried about this happening might want to give this a read. As I said, it's a bit tough to read in spots but definitely worth your time."

"I was looking for a book that dealt with rape and sexual assault topics as kind of a learning tool for my young daughter. I picked up Dreamland because I thought it dealt with those kind of topics. However, it didn't have anything related to it in the book, so I was disappointed. It might be a good book, but it didn't have what I was looking for."

"This book is not for the faint of heart. It follows Precious Jones and her sexually, and physically abuse, relationship with her father. This book really takes a inside look at what happens to a person as they are abused and how it changes them. I can not tell you how many tears I shed reading this book, but it was a lot. This is a powerful book that will really touch your soul."

"A great book that shatters expectations. This story is about a girl whom assumes that she's doomed to be rejected by everyone. Even after some issues, however, her friend is willing to spend time with her, and enjoys her company, even after an unfortunate event during a party."

"This was a fantastic book. I loved the dark atmosphere and the subtle hints of hidden evil that lurked around the mystery. I will warn people that there are graphic scenes of sexual assault in the book. I did think it was a good example of how someone who is powerful in their own right can be taken advantage of. It showed how predators find any small hint of vulnerability and exploit it. Overall I thought this book was very entertaining and thought provoking. "

"The Leroy Tree isn't really a great book in terms of talking about rape and sexual assault. It is about those things of course, but this is one woman's story about it rather than something that will necessarily help with dealing with or talking about it."

"Watching the Tree Limbs is a disturbing read and might hit too close to home for some readers. I found it quite graphic to the extent that it was slightly off-putting. That said, the story is told very well and it can be valuable as a resource for talking about rape and sexual assault, but given the nature of the material and especially the way it's presented, I would only recommend it for those over age 13 or so."
