"Having been born and raised in southern California, I am very familiar with This I Know by Eldonna Edwards. It is a magical story about a young girl's gift for the unknown and the certain conviction she has for what she does know. It is beautifully written and a pleasure to read. I have recommended this book to my reading club and everyone praises it. There are moments of conflict followed by graceful redemption. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book immediately! "

"The Outcasts of Poker Flat is a different type of western. It is filled with all of the elements of past western life including a prostitute but it describes as it says, outcasts. The main character and his band of merry people are labeled degenerate and ran out of town. The story informs the reader of the hardships they went through on the edge of their former society to survive."

"If it wasn’t so corny I’d call the LitraTorch a pocket full of sunshine. Instead I’ll call it the future of portable constant lighting for videographers and photographers."

"I love writers from all over the country. I think that California writers differ greatly from those on the East Coast. One of my favorite books from a left coast writer is Murder in A-Minor. I thought this was a great murder mystery and felt the detective mystery crime was perfect."

"Only one example was given here, and isn't necessarily written by a Californian writer. This book, however, is set in California partially."

"I had to read this in high school 25 years ago, but decided to read it again. Being forced to read it left a negative impression but being able to choose to read it as an adult was a different experience. Gave me a better inside look at the problems faced during the Dust Bowl/Great Depression era, including the issues faced by those being driven from their homes by increased mechanization. Sounds boring, but I really started to understand the characters, and the desperation that they faced in their struggle to survive. Worth a read, especially if you want to have a feel for the history of the time. Illustrations did not really add to the experience."
