"I bought this for my niece and she said it was great, but she got a little tired of waiting for new titles to come out in the series and become available at our local bookstore. I got her the latest ones and she says the series keeps getting better and better."

"The book 'The Outcast Dead' is a great addition to the Hourus Heresy with its intrigue and action. It is a little hard to read at times but I enjoy reading about telepathy and the characters are great. The storyline also is promising with the team that reminds me of the avengers (without the powers). Overall this is a good book."

"This book is a great read to learn about how the Dark Angels chaper was founded. A bit too wordy. The bottom line for this novel is that you won't get anything that you wouldn't get from reading the background from either the Index Astartes or the Dark Angel Codex. Ending leaves you hanging and not in a good way."

"This is obviously a very subjective thing, but I'd put Shadows of Treachery up against any of the others. It's a collection of stories, so there's a bit of a mix in terms of what's going on, but they all provide interesting background and make connections you might not otherwise get. Probably wouldn't want to start with this, but once you're into the series, you'll likely agree with me."

"Battle for the Abyss is no doubt the best book in the Horus Heresy series. I read all the books in 2010 and thought they were well-written, and really show-cased the writer's ability to develop a great plot line and carry it on through several volumes. If you're looking for an entertaining read in the fantasy genre, this is a must-read!"

"Some people say that Horus Rising is the best. Others say its Mechanicum or even Legion. For me, A Thousand Sons has got to be the best one in the prolific Horus Heresy series. Magnus the red is awesome character and the drama that befalls prospero is intense."

"This book in of itself was good, however it is by far the best book in the Horus Heresy series. I had trouble connecting with the characters in this one when I have such a strong bond from the others in this series. I did like the story and the plot moved along at a fairly decent pace."

"The First Heretic is easily the best book in the Horus Heresy series. Lays out the plot and develops the characters in a way that the others don't, but also aren't expected to. A lot was put into this book and it delivers on every front."
