This classic was one of the building blocks of my learning to love literature. The world would do well to offer this as a must-read in any literature course."

It is well written and you become extremely involved with the characters, even Mary Lennox who starts off as a quite contrary child. She feels alone in a strange mansion and searches to find a secret garden that has been hidden for ages on the property. This is a classic and is a perfect book for a elementary school reader."

"Fans of the Harry Potter series have some differing ideas about how the works rank - it seems like most fans tend to rank this particular one somewhere in the middle. Some trends seem to prevail in terms of how the author developed her writing style, but this decision mostly comes down to one's personal tastes, and none of the books are leaps and bounds ahead of or behind the others. I'd say this is probably not the best book in the series, objectively, but would still recommend it to someone trying to answer this question for themselves."

"You know, the art is amazing. There's no doubt that Kveta Pacovsa is an amazing artist. Each illustration is so rich and full of imagery. But. But. Instead of normal aged characters in this story it's all little children! I guess they figured it'd connect more to the kids' imagination. I just have a really hard time with seeing kids in obviously grow up situations. Eh. Not for me."

And there surely would be more detailed summaries of the work on other sites besides Amazon."
