"Amazing that Nabokov had this career-defining novel published after his 70th birthday. It might be his best piece of fiction, although not the most well-known, which goes to Lolita. It's a story of incest and aristocracy, interesting themes to combine, but Nabokov weaves the plot well. Oh, and it also has a bit of eroticism to it too. Definitely pick this one up."

"Nabokov is the famous author of the infamous book, "Lolita". He has also authored a slew of other very-well written novels that are not mentioned as often as "Lolita", but that are every bit as good to read. This book "Speak, Memory" is listed eighth on the publisher's list of the 20th century's greatest nonfiction. It is certainly well-categorized as one of the best books of Vladimir Nabokov."

"This is a dark and creepily relevant story. Relevant because it reminds me of the current state of affairs. A society (Padukgrad) that disapproves of anyone being different and and pushes the idea of the powers that be knowing what is best for everyone. Paduk (the sinister) is a despicable character - you will hate him. For me, this was a tough read because I was relating characters to real people. I will probably need to read it twice, or more. "

"This is an alright Nabokov novel, in my opinion. I think he has better ones he's written, and I'm not sure I'd call this one of his classics. If you have the need to read everything he wrote, then it's not a bad book. It was a good sunday quick read for me."

"Oh gosh!!!!!!!! Love dis book ;) It's one of the best books I have read. It truly is a breath of fresh air. Of course, anyone reading this series. There is an amazing description of his father's butterfly collecting expeditions and mysterious death in Central Asia. I gave The Gift a 10 because it is dynamic and so well written and so detailed that I could never possibly vote it lower than a 10, never. "
