"It's an excellent starter pack for understanding how algorithm works. I have to agree that we ofthen don't realize the importance of algorithm and we don't realize that is part of every little decision that we make--the things we like, dislike, our interests, and many more--they all involve algorithm be it simple or complex. This is an interesting vapproach in tackling the subject without getting overwhelmed."

"This is a great reference book to have at your disposal. I don't see myself sitting down and going from cover to cover but reading a chapter here and there seems to keep me moving forward. The back cover says it all when it states "combines rigor and comprehensiveness" because this book is very detailed and math oriented. But hey, nobody said it would be easy."

    #3The Algorithm Design Manual

    The Algorithm Design Manual
Expanding on the highly successful formula of the first edition, the book now serves as the primary textbook of choice for any algorithm design course while maintaining its status as the premier practical reference guide to algorithms.

"As a professor, I would say that this new edition has more substance compared with the first one, well because this offers a lot more exercises and tutorials. I like that this book works beyond the theories it says. It presents usual algorithmic problems that usually arise in practice. This is more immersive for me. Thumbs up!"

"This wasn't what I expected at all. I was hoping this could walk me through the process from a beginner's standpoint, but this was way too confusing, and loaded with technical jargon I had no clue about. This is for an expert, but even then, I am not sure of it's quality. "

    #6Algorithms Structures

    Algorithms Structures
This is a classic book about basic algorithms and data structures. It's a must-have book for an understanding behind-the-scenes logic of standard libraries in modern programming languages.

"This book published by Prentice Hall is the holy grail as far as books on algorithms and data structures go. This one's by Niklaus Wirth perhaps the field's leading expert. I suggest buying both because used copies are easier to find and they're much less expensive. "

    #7Purely Functional Data Structures

    Purely Functional Data Structures
This book describes data structures from the point of view of functional languages, with examples, and presents design techniques so that programmers can develop their own functional data structures.

"The good thing about this book is it's never really out of date; I've used it for almost twenty years now, and it's one of the few algorithm books useful for a Haskell hacker. However, aesthetically, there are some short-comings: the retro cover was gaudy even back in '98, and some of the pages actually cut off the text. Otherwise, a really useful book."

#8Data Structures & Algorithms in Java

Data Structures & Algorithms in Java
Data Structures and Algorithms in Java, Second Edition is designed to be easy to read and understand although the topic itself is complicated. Algorithms are the procedures that software programs use to manipulate data structures.

"I found this book very useful, and have been reading it while taking some beginner computer science classes. I am enjoying learning all the new data structures and algorithms to go along with my current knowledge of computers. This is an excellent text book and the concepts are easy to learn and implement. I highly recommend!"

"I'm someone who can't just dive straight into complex formalized mathematics, I just get confused and frustrated by all the jargon which is why I was having so much trouble understanding fundamental algorithms. I think this book is a fantastic starting point, it doesn't get to bogged down in the math and instead delivers the overall concept in a simplistic and generalized way. I was able to get my mental footing in algorithms before continuing to the more complex aspects."
