"My dad said this was the greatest war novel he ever read so I gave it a shot. Took me a while to finish it, cause it was like a gazillion pages long and I had to put it down a couple of times because it was so gory, but I liked it well enough."

"Intruder in the Dust was a difficult book to read. I had to read the same sentence again and again just so I can get a good grip on what Faulkner is saying. Gave me a headache, but I'm glad I stuck with it."

"I read this book after finding out that the movie (which I'm a big fan of) is based on a memoir. Coming from a large family myself, I felt right at home with this book. Hard to believe that there's a half century between me and this book, and yet the feelings are the same."

"It's a great story about a fearless, impossibly fortunate little girl. However, parents be aware, it was written by a Swede in the 1950s, and there are mild racial topics and talk of cannibalism. Probably suitable for 7+, although my 5 year old absolutely loves the books, and this one is her favorite . The translation could be modernized, too."
