"I found this book to be a little tedious and slow. It didn't really capture my imagination or keep my attention very well."

"Good Omens is written by one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman, and this is a very excellent and intriguing story all around. I especially loved the fact that the story touches on some religious topics that can be applied to today's religions. It was not too long of a read for me either. "

"I saw the movie and wanted the book. It did not disappoint. It has a superhero feel and you're cheering for the main character throughout, at least I did. The book had some additional pictures throughout that were really good too. They made the story and the book overall a really good read. I was quite engaged with the story and the characters as each were developed wonderfully. "

"While The Stand is arguably a good book, it was written well before 1990 and I was attempting to find a book from 1990. I must say that this did not meet my needs as I specifically required one of the best books from 1990 not 1978 when The Stand was written. "

"As usual, Stephen King delivers stories which are just the right amount of scary. The Library Police was my favorite with it's joy and terror that every young reader feels upon entering the "big" library for the first time... a definite good read!"

"While I love Eric Carle's books, I would say this is not a great solution to "best books published in 1990," as the audience (being a young children's book) is too narrow. I would prefer a solution that appealed to more people."

"A full immersion experience that takes you to Rome's glory days! It's chalk full of action sequences and full on drama whether it be vindictiveness and shrouds of secrecy. It's a very smooth read that I blew through with ease where every page felt thought out and compelling. If you like history and want something with a lot of detail this is the book for you!"

"This was an interesting read. It touched on several sensitive subjects such as homelessness, racism and illiteracy and does it in a way that keeps you wanting more. I blazed through this book and before I knew it was at the end. The lead character really sucks you in and makes for an all around good book. I didn't like some of the sad parts but there were equally as many happy parts which made for a good balance. Overall I was pleased with the structure of the book and the whole package."

"While this book was published in the 90's, it would be a stretch to call it one of the best. It is simply a nonfiction book filled with stories about the gold rush long before the 19-90's. It doesn't have the greatest of reviews and it didn't make it onto any best selling lists."

"I've heard good things about Leyner's works, so I picked this one up. It had good reviews, and having been a classic from the 90s, I thought that the reviews wouldn't be terribly skewed. Still, maybe I'm missing something. I read the story about the boy, the way his father died, his school life, and how he navigated adolescence, but I was, by and large, bored of the story. The main character, and the story, might have been interesting, if it didn't feel like there were tangents or side-stories all over the place. The only redeeming quality is that the second half seemed to go by quicker than normal, but I attribute the screenplay style for that. I don't recommend this book."
