"As a person who likes fantasy, and including the kinds of fantasy you don't see every day (i.e., books about mermaids), I picked this one up thinking that it was an interesting premise. The premise is still interesting - In Cornwall, a young girl's father goes missing, she discovers a world under the sea, and becomes so drawn to it that her brother fears for her. Regardless, when I was reading it, it became clear to me that this book, which could have had so much more mythology, story, and depth (no pun intended) was just a straightforward adventure book for young women who like mermaids. Granted, for the age range it was probably developed for, that's great- but I was let down."
