"When I was looking for books about Ethiopia I tried a bunch of top ten lists, and Beneath the Lion's Gaze appears near the top of every list. It a solid story about a family there in the 1970's. Now it's obviously not a history book, but who wants to learn about Ethiopia that way. This way more interesting. "

"The story takes place in Nigeria, Benin, and Ethiopia so you get a bit of each while reading. The story was interesting. There are aspects of violence in which can make it an uncomfortable read at times but it's necessary for the story. It gives you a small sense of the life of poverty that so many endure as a child in Africa. The writing is impeccable and detailed. I enjoyed the book. "

"Set in Arabia and concerning the fate of the disappearing Bedouins, Arabian Sands is an interesting tale of a man who risked everything to explore uncharted areas. It's regarded as one of the best travel and adventure books and is inspirational in it's love for things that don't require monetary benefit. Unfortunately, it has little to no connection to Ethiopia."

"I'm not sure why I picked up this book. I wanted a book on Ethiopia. This has nothing to do with Ethiopia. The book is worthless to me. It's a good book. Just like having the best chicken dinner when what you really wanted is a chainsaw. Sidenote: Don't try to use a chicken dinner as a chainsaw, no matter how good the meal looks. Let my mistakes save you time and money."
