"Cleopatra's Secret while a good book set in ancient egypt, it isn't the best. If Cleopatra is a character that you take interest in, then you might enjoy this story better."

"When I saw the book Twelfth Transforming, I was initially intrigued by the setting, ancient Egypt. I learned that the author, Pauline Gedge is known for her novels set in Egypt, so I felt that it would be an accurate portrayal even though it is fiction. This book was a lot darker than I was expecting and at times it was difficult to read. However, overall the story was compelling."

"I picked this up because it looked interesting. However, as I read it I found it hard to follow. It isn't what you think it's about, and is instead a mish-mash of the author's ideas and beliefs. Just be careful you know what it is before buying."

"I like to think of myself as a forward-looking person, so I'm always wondering why I'm so obsessed with historical fiction. I guess I'm just curious as to how we got here. Wilbur Smith conjures up an extremely vivid tableau and had my interest from start to finish. Warning; if you are upset by expressions of *extremely* different attitudes and social mores, this may not be for you. The ancient Egyptians were certainly different from us in many ways!"

"This romance novel takes place in Egypt, but a fairly modern Egypt. The setting is similar to what I am looking for, but not quite right. This is also not exactly what I expect to find in terms of genre for a novel set in Egypt, especially if I were to find something in ancient Egypt. This would appeal to romance novel fans, but is not what I want."

"I'm a big fan of Egyptian archeology and like reading novels about it whenever possible. I tried reading Dancer of the Nile by Veronica Scott, but couldn't get into it. It seemed to focus more on the romance rather than historical Egypt."

"Aside from the historical trappings, I found this book to be fairly typical and unoriginal. The usual kind of tale, with the usual kind of heroine and the usual kind of hero. It makes for a pretty good diversion, but there's little that you will actually find memorable. "

"First and foremost this is more of a history book than anything. It's pretty solid, well executed and easy to understand. However, it's not there to tell a story, or get you invested in a series of characters. More so just the culture itself."
