"I think this is very nicely written and is one of the best books I have read that was set in Egypt. I think the main character deals with a lot of turmoil in himself, but the setting is just wonderful. You can be transported to Egypt and feel like you were living there yourself."

"I was skeptical of this at first. It sounded like a cheesy knockoff of Dan Brown. (I count Dan Brown as just barely on the readable and enjoyable side, but I can do without knockoffs.) But it turns out this is a well-developed story that makes sense in its own setting of Egypt. You get the sense of the characters as real people, but they clearly live in world that is different from our own, and have all sorts of different expectations. But they still need to solve problems, and what makes this book work is how they apply their own experiences to those problems. This doesn't feel like a modern story with the characters dressed Egyptian style, but works on its own."

"This is supposed to be based on a true story, which adds an exciting element to an already exciting read. Usually epic historical novels skimp on character, but the author populates the book with people who are both foreign and recognizable. It is also possible to get a good sense of what life might have been like back then. This book has a lot to offer many readers. "

If the summary looks good to you, then give it a shot for its own cheesy nature. If it doesn't, then you aren't missing any grand surprises."
