"This is a really overly dramatic story. A girl who had all the usual problems of an American teenager decided, like some do sadly, it was too much so she killed herself. The gimmick here is we're following her story through the eyes of someone else, via messages she left before she died. It reads like a "I want to kill myself and make sure everyone feels REALLY SORRY FOR ME" wish fulfillment fantasy. Plus it feels like it could encourage other people to do the same. I saw the series, and the books were not much better. Not a fan."

"Let me start of saying i've never been a romance reader but this just sealed my fate. It's so incredibly cheesy. I pretty much just cringed the whole time reading this. I wouldn't recommend this unless you like the reading structure of a 3rd grader. No thank you!"

"I read this novel back when I was in highschool when everyone was crazy about vampires. The story involves a awkward high school teen who falls for her classmate who is secretly a vampire. There are four books in the series which have been made into five films. I enjoyed the books initially but after the second book, it felt like the writer is just stretching the story to make more money and in the process ruined the over all appeal of the vampire story. "

"This is an interesting coming-of-age novel, but I don't know if I would compare it to some of the classics. It was certainly an entertaining read, and if you know a young girl who's looking for something to keep her entertained for a few days, you might try this. It was a little short for my tastes, but that's not always a bad thing."

"Books set in high school could fill many library shelves. There are classics going back half a century if not more. This book, Hex, is one I hadn't heard of but apparently it has highly favorable reviews on Amazon. While somewhat a cliched story, a teenage witch, the author must be good at pivoting from the typical fare as this has very high reviews from a wide-range of reviewers. "

"Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick is a good book and gets a high rating for me! After I read the prologue I was pretty much riveted, hoping that it set the tone for the rest of the book.. in several book clubs, I have brought up the idea of reading hush to other members in my group. Nora and Vee are best friends in their sophomore year of high school. One day this guy named Patch becomes her new partner in high school and he is mysterious and foreboding which rivets Nora. but there is something about him that won't let Nora get Patch out of her mind. Strange things keep happening to her, causing her to be spooked and cautious. She meets Elliot, a new student and she believes hes seen some things and has had a shady past.. The mystery builds and, as Nora touches Patch's v-shaped scar on his back, she gets pulled into a vision. The danger and suspense become intense and Nora finally learns the truth about her past and Patch's. 4 stars for this engrossing supernatural story!"

"This doesn't seem all that promising. Indeed, it seems to resemble Harry Potter quite a bit. But this is a surprisingly fresh and involving book. The main character is a rich, complex person who isn't always good but is always understandable. The plot is believable. I found myself caring deeply about this entirely fictional world. "
