"Heart-wrenching and emotional, The Old Gringo cements the astounding of the late, great, award-winning Mexican author, Carlos Fuentes. Dealing with the hard-hitting and still-relevant issues of race and culture between our nations, it tells the story of an American journalist who comes to visit the soldiers of Pancha Villa, and in particular the conflicting relationship he forms with the General of the army. I won't say the novel is Carlos' best work ever, but it is definitely worth your time."

"Octavio Paz is a legendary twentieth-century Mexican writer. His books are permeated with the Spanish language and rich Mexican culture. As best I can tell The Labyrinth of Solitude is a book of non-fiction. The essays (most of them) seem to concern Mexico and Mexican life. "

"I don't read a lot of books setting in this time period of the early 1900's but I found this one to be worth the read. I liked that it gave me a view of how the Mexican soldiers spent their days and the issues that brought them there to fight in the revolution."

"Wonderfully written book. I love the premise of widows mansion falling apart. Young man enters to help and falls in love and saves the niece. Sadly the introduction is in English and the story in Spanish so you must be bilingual to read it."

"If you're into romance but want something more off the beaten path, Ruthless Game is a good one. It's a romance story and a ghost story rolled into one. I found it rather enjoyable, though people who are into more traditional romance novels might find the premise odd. Don't buy it for someone else assuming they will like it!"

"The book starts of with the main character leaving Mexico and coming into the US, illegally. The story will likely divide readers based on their own political leanings, and as such I would not recommend the book if you think that illegal immigration needs to be stopped, it is more of a sob story for this type of illegal activity. The book is well written, but with the nature of the story, I would not recommend it, unless you support allowing the country to be invaded by those that we know nothing about. "
