"There's a couple of things that I really like about this book or this series of books for 13/14 year olds. One is that we all love stories where the young protaganist is adopted or somehow estranged from their parents. I believe it resonates with that part of our development where we seek our own individual identity separate from our families. There is also the fantasy element that sparks imaginations but young people focused on studies and working for some greater good rather than being focused on themselves or romance."

"Wow! This book is truly unforgettable. From page one, I was sucked in. The point of view (the narrator) is so original, and I enjoyed every single word. I hope this novel is the first of many from Markus Zusak. And I'd love to see more people reading this, especially young teens. It's such a unique novel with a powerful message. I look forward to reading it again sometime!"
