"This book is definitely a good read about family relationships but does not correspond with the world in which we live today. I read this book a while ago, and even though it is an excellent book with great lessons to be learned, I had a hard time relating to the characters in the book. But I overthink everything, it's an interesting read and it does have a lot of lessons to be learned about family relationships but has a lot of undertones of a time in America in which a lot of people didn't have basic human rights."

"One summer in college I visited friends in the beautiful beachside town of Belmar, New Jersey, just a quick ride down the 195 from Trenton, where this novel takes place. Reading this story was the closest I've come to reliving those memories. I could easily imagine the strong bonds the characters formed with their family being my family and friends. A quick page turner and lovely read."
