"This is a refreshing way to look at problem solving. Instead of getting involved with programs, this books helps you form new coping mechanisms to deal with sobriety and mental health issues from a holistic point of view. I learned how to help myself from a physiological point of view, and I never would have done that without this book! Highly recommend!"

#210% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works - A True Story

10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works - A True Story
10% Happier is a weird spiritual book because its author is someone who doesnt believe in "spiritual stuff". Its serious and mocking at the same time, and perhaps thats the key of its success.

"I recently found myself struggling to remain clean from my addiction after a years struggle. A friend recommended I reach Meditation - Deep and Blissful, a book by Sharon Rose Summers that changed her life. She said she was able to find an inner peace that had alluded her her entire life, though at the time in the mental state I was in, I was skeptical. After reading the book however, I do feel as if i've changed and am somehow more in control of my life. It won't solve your problems for you, but it'll give you the strength you need to face them on your own."

#4A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century

A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century
Barbara W. Tuchman—the acclaimed author of the Pulitzer Prize–winning classic The Guns of August—once again marshals her gift for character, history, and sparkling prose to compose an astonishing portrait of medieval Europe.
The fourteenth century reflects two contradictory images: on the one hand, a glittering age of crusades, cathedrals, and chivalry; on the other, a world plunged into chaos and spiritual agony. In this revelatory work, Barbara W. Tuchman examines not only the great rhythms of history but the grain and texture of domestic life: what childhood was like; what marriage meant; how money, taxes, and war dominated the lives of serf, noble, and clergy alike. Granting her subjects their loyalties, treacheries, and guilty passions, Tuchman re-creates the lives of proud cardinals, university scholars, grocers and clerks, saints and mystics, lawyers and mercenaries, and, dominating all, the knight—in all his valor and “furious follies,” a “terrible worm in an iron cocoon.”

"There's so much going on in this book that it was hard for me to keep up with it. If you have a short attention span, its not for you. But it is a great book."

"Everyone deals with addiction or deals with having addicts in their life differently. My best friend recently divorced her alcoholic husband, and was looking for ways to find balance and understanding in her life. She said this book helped her tremendously. But it's not specifically for helping with addiction/understanding addiction. So I would use it as a supplement, not a primary guide."

"As someone who has previously had a problem with addiction, this book will not help you. If you are struggling with religion and inner peace, this is the book for you, however unless your addiction involves being addicted to going to church or reading the bible, this is not your book."

"Beautiful read. I enjoyed the story, the history elements of it and more than everything, the style of writing. It is one of those books which leave me inspired; when I'm not reading I find myself thinking of it and when I finish reading, I find my thoughts referring back to it - for many days.."

"This is a really good book for Christians wanting to refresh their relationship with God and live a more faithful life. However, it's not directly about coping with addiction. Since faith and addiction recovery are often connected, there is definitely a link, but again, it's not ostensibly about coping with addiction. If someone is looking for a book dealing directly with addiction, this is definitely not it. If someone wants a book about faith that is broadly applicable to life and challenges, this one is great."

"This book is about mindfulness, which has become an extremely important facet of basically all forms of therapy, recovery, and mental health treatment. Because of that this is a helpful, and possibly powerful, book in the hands of someone coping with addiction. But the ideas in the book have to be applied to everyone's unique situation as it's about mindfulness more generally, not specifically about coping with addiction. So be prepared to do some work to apply this book to the problem of addiction, as well as working on addiction in other, parallel ways. Still a good, truly helpful read."

Osho is an author who specializes in igniting individual's intelligence, helping people to achieve a healthy body-mind relationship and living to one's full potential. He is an expert in helping people cope daily life situations by influencing creativity and innovation rather than taking the imitative and rule-bound behavior.
