"I feel like these books are maybe slightly geared more towards girls than boys, but not by very much - I think they would still hold the attention of a male teen because they are well-written in general. I would particularly recommend it to fans of the genre (sci-fi/dystopian novels, etc.) or to those who have enjoyed the rest of the series. Considering that I imagine that it is a widely available book, it seems to be a decent one to pick up to give to a teenage boy without knowing much about their particular tastes."

"The Harry Potter series is much more popular with women than with men. Men enjoy it on some level, but the fact that it is written by a woman is an automatic downgrade."

"This book is truly a page turner. I remember reading it when I was a teenager and being unable to put it down until I was finished. I really don't think the movie did it justice; for fans of Steven King and the Western genre this is a must read."

"It's a very interesting story and I like how it was translated, but I'm not sure if most boys are going to be into it. It's a fairly deep story with not a ton of humor, so know your kid before you give him this."
