"I, like many of you who should purchase this book, was a novice in Android programming. I must say, I had fears that this book may be too advanced to pick up with no or little experience in programming, but the book really simplifies things while still keeping an organized and fast pace. The writers of this guide were extremely skilled at efficiently delivering the right information to learn Android development and programming. I have no regrets for this purchase. "

"This is a nice introductory book, but it has a couple of flaws which I feel were particularly damning. First, it doesn't even help you build an app; you work through the set up of the environment, but not the actual building process. And second, a lot of the information in it has become wildly deprecated over the last four years, making it more of a historical reference at this point."

"There's some good information here, but it's definitely not for a beginner. The language is stilted at times and seems to have been written by someone less than fluent in English. There's also mistakes that lead to some time intensive debugging on my part, that necessitated me searching for further information elsewhere. "

"Android programming for Beginners is a comprehensive guide to programming, at a sub-textbook price. The book should serve as an encyclopedia, providing a plethora of advice, troubleshooting, and guides for all steps of learning android programming, from getting started, to more intermediate concepts. I think this book is perfect as a substitute for a class on this subject: The learning is intuitive, not boring, and extremely detailed. "

"MATLAB is a programming language mainly used for numerical computing and is not suitable for learning Android development and programming. Java programming language and object orienting programming concepts are mainly used for Android development. Thus, this book which is an introductory book to learning MATLAB will do little to help in learning to develop Android based apps."
