"This is a different kind of book with a main character. The reason being, is the main character is the dog who watches the world through his eyes and shows the story of his owner as he interprets it. He watches his owner succeed and fail in both love and life and its such a great interpretation of something we really dont know much about. Such a great book if you are an animal lover and truly gives you a deeper understanding of how amazing these creatures really are."

The characters are not well developed, the story-line is a bit overdone, and the writing is a bit sloppy. "KILLING TRAIL, by Margaret Mizushima was a good read and appeared factual. Having some knowledge of what K-9 dogs can do, I was not surprised about what Robo could accomplish when tracking bad guys. The author did a good job in articulating the capabilities of a trained police dog. Quite interesting! The book made me once again realize that every law enforcement agency should have K-9 companions. I did not give the book five stars as it moved slow at times and, while I am not bias against female writers; I think some of the descriptions in the book were clearly written from a woman's prospective. The story was unique and involved, of all people, the principal of the local high school. Deputy Mattie Cobb , who came up experiencing a tough life found her God given role as a top notch law enforcement K-9 officer. This is certainly a very good effort for Mizushima's first novel!"

"This is a just another cheesy romance novel. The only dogs are those in the veterinary practice of one of the lead characters. It looks and reads like a supermarket romance novel. Nothing special about the book. I would leave this one in the bargain bin."

"This is a alright rated book and it is about dogs. There might be better well known books about dogs to pick from unless you are going for something more on the unpopular side. Just because its unpopular DOES NOT make it a bad read."
